Neal's Yard Dairy
I've practically forgotten I have a blog it seems, although I keep taking photographs.
We never miss an opportunity to stop at Neal's Yard Dairy when we're at the Borough Market. And really, how can you not go into a place with huge cheese wheels like these outside. I actually framed this photograph so that you could see the man sitting across the road reflected in the glass. I love reflections. And cheese.
The employees were very kind to let me take photographs but they also seemed a bit shy, so I tried to be as quick and non-intrusive with my camera as possible.
It's a great place to take photographs actually, I could have spent hours in there but of course there wasn't time, and they'd probably have gotten sick of me very quickly.
I could try all these cheeses easily, I'd just need a bit of time and a good bottle of wine would be welcome as well.
Anyone else like Neal's Yard Dairy? I especially love the clotted cream butter they sell, although they don't actually make it.

oh that really is a photogenic shop ! love your selection of photos here, especially that first image with the reflection. i loooove reflections too. fantastic eye you have there.
i've got *my* eye on those huge mama blocks of membrillo. yum to that. what's the darker bordeaux triangle next to it ? oh, and is that a rack of stickers the fromager is playing with in the back ? um, i'd like that in my office. and some membrillo.
wow!! i wish neal's yard dairy was in our neighborhood! i have such a craving for cheese all of a sudden.
What good memories this brings back !
My first London visit, Covent Garden, Neals Yard.
I need to hurry back, it has been too long .. and yes, you have been gone too long ( from the blog) too :)
Good memories indeed... Mesmerized and secretly devising plans to let them lock me in for the night (I'd have brought wine and a book).
Also, the water spout in the middle of the shop?
Cheese ... one of the best discoveries ever! Delicious post Hilda, and beautiful pictures as always!
That loos like heaven! I know, stores always make a big fuss of us taking pictures...what are we gonna do? Copy them? I love Neals Yard. I love la Formagerie even more!:) LZ
Very neat photographs. I like the reflections too.
I knew there were a lot of different types of cheese, but this place is amazing!

Thanks everyone.
Kerrin: It's quince paste and damson paste. And those are stickers indeed, lots of them. Fun huh. ;) Oh and it's around the corner from the chocolate shop.
Baking Soda: The water spout is not in the middle of the shop anymore but by the window (if you look at the picture with the shelves of cheese wheels, it's at the end over the barrel). I'd let them lock me in for the night but I don't think the baby would appreciate it. ;)
O, it all looks so delicious...I haven't heard of any of the types in that 'close-up'.
I adore cheese shops, love the heady, earthy, chilly smell of a cheese shop. And I love staring at the cheeses - truly fascinating! This is one fabulous cheese shop and your beautiful photographs bring it to life!
the ideal place to spend hours. thanks for sharing this one hilda - you know i love cheese and this was a real treat. love love the photographs. i noticed that reflection before i read the post and had to laugh at the ways our eyes pick up the same things!
What a fantastic place, Hilda!! I adore cheese shops - all those glorious cheeses and interesting rinds and shapes and smells. :-) Love your pics!!
Fantastic shots!!You have grabbed so many angles of that store. I can nearly feel I was there with you.
I've heard so much about this place, it's nice to see your photos Hilda.
These are some lovely photos! I was just watching reruns of Rick Steves' Europe on PBS last night (nothing else to watch due to American Thanksgiving). And Rick visited Neal"s Yard Dairy in Borough Market! Lovely place!
I don't think cheese can be pornographic per se, but I did lust after some delicious cheese after reading your post.
