A Mental Escape
I'm a bit scattered at the moment as there are several major things happening at the same time, and have several posts in various states of completion in my drafts box, so I thought I'd say a little hello while I sort some things out and ask you a question that is borne out of how I shut my brain off when I get stressed.
I escape to a place I know in my head, and what's soothing to me right now is to think about New Zealand, because it's spring there right now and it's beautiful, so beautiful in some places it's unbelievable, like someone took a picture of a dream and made it reality.
I'll be back soon, but in the meantime...
Where do you like to escape in your head?

I'd like to escape the job I've committed myself to for a year. It's great, but it's interrupted all that's important to me, and so I'm counting -- waiting for my escape again. I can't wait.
Hi Hilda,
Your blog is so amazingly beautiful. Stunning photos, wonderful texts. To escpate, I guess somewhere by the sea because I can lose myself in the sound of the waves and feel the breeze against my skin. Otherwise, I've just been to Venice and can't wait to return there, but not in summer when it's too hot and crowded. Italy in the winter would be fantastic actually.
That picture is my escape! I love these surroundings, forests, blue skies and mountain tops. Not much of a seaside girl I'm afraid, I like the luscious greens.
Anywhere is possible if it's all in my mind - past, present, future, an imaginary place, etc. :)
Hilda - I fancy myself as a writer, so quite often I find that I tell myself stories. Some are fantastical, in some I moonlight as a guitar prodigy (I don't play, by the way) and sometimes I actually tell myself stories that I feel like committing to paper. So that's my blessed escape. And as I sit here at my desk at a job where I don't feel very appreciated, I am thankful for my imagination. :)
Love your blog! :)
I 'travel' the internet and daydream.
Love the photo....that has to be one of my absolutely favourite reverse shots. When I watch the sun set on my way home from work....I so wish I weren't in the driver's seat!
Wow, Hilda..your photos are just so beautiful. I keep scrolling through your entries in awe!
That said, I would love to take part in the Macathon! How do I go about joining up? :)
That photo is stunning Hilda. The place I would escape to in my head would probably be very similar to your photo- Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh ( North East India). We went there for our honeymoon; a very pretty and serene place with its hills and streams.
I just love to escape...it's true. If I'm home, to escape is to sit on my front porch staring at my garden. On a bigger scale- a trip to NYC. Bigger than that- somewhere abroad. But, most treasured, sharing a meal with close friends. I guess there's lots of ways I escape, like I said, I love it. -Chris Ann
I'm like SKM - when I need to I go in the kitchen and start chopping, stirring, kneading, whatever - it soothes and it helps me concentrate. Then I run stories through me head, memories, words, feelings, places I've been and places I want to go.
Lovely thought, lovely interlude, Hilda. Take your time but I'm looking forward to your posts.
Thank you all for sharing your escapes with me and for the compliments.
It's still chaotic around here, but I'm trying to make sure the show goes on, so new post.
great shot of the mountains! love it
Commenting for Haiti. I like to escape to Tennessee in the summer, in a thunderstorm. I don't think there's a safer feeling in the world than sitting on your porch watching the skies open up.
This is great! Thanks for the opportunity to help out Haiti.
I wish I knew where I went when I disappeared! But it's interesting that it's very often an autumn scene that I picture.
Love the shot into the rear view mirror!

(Haiti comment...)
Incredible picture!
I tend to require a book to escape, and then I tend to not be able to put the book down. (Haiti again)
Beautiful pictures!
The review mirror shot is amazing! I escape through my writing.
I escape in my head to warm beaches and warm moments with friends.
I like to escape to a quiet beach.. (but this place exists mostly in my mind).. and when I go there, there are NO CHILDREN! (I have 6, and they are driving me particularly crazy today)
I escape to a beach, a not too crowded, sunny but not too hot, sandy beach next to a warm water lake.
Haiti again...
i know how you feel :)
I like to escape to the ocean. But I'd love to visit New Zealand at some point.
I escape to the beaches of Prince Edward Island, Canada. There's a nice ocean breeze, warm sand, waves lapping on the beach......
I love to escape to my cozy big bed and think of drinking tea, watching movies, and snuggling with my husband. Ah... :)
Such a fun and lovely photo!
I escape to the lakeside cabin I used to visit with my parents. Imagining the cool water shadowed by mountains has helped me find sleep on many a stress-jazzed night.
Definitely snow covered mountains...that would be my escape picture. The quiet of snow!
Maui! and prayers for Haiti!
Somewhere warm and ridiculously sunny
Umm.... other than the past? Robberg Beach in Pletenberg Bay, South Africa!
Oh, I'd love to visit New Zealand one day. It's such a wonderful place with amazing nature!
Great shot! I'm now dreaming of Moroccan escape:)

Escape - I'm the great escapist.. I have a place called My World.. In My World anything is possible. I can transport myself to My World by researching my newest book, working on my websites, taking a #Tweetbreak or simply just "being" with my 3 little ones doing absolutely random things that have us giggling hysterically...
I love My World...
comment comment. thanks for the good work.
I don't escape in my head, but if I did, it would be to a tiny island in the Philippines that few people know about. No electricity, huts on stilts, and it's surrounded by a beautiful coral reef just a meter under the surface.
Err, a correction to the last comment: "water's surface."
